my girls seem a bit skitish

So my girls are still in the brooder box... but when I go in there to change water and food they go nuts chirping and running around. I handle them everyday I try to handle them at least twice a day. Is this normal behavior it does seem that one of my Jesery Giants seems to be louder and the alerter of the group. Also think she may be a he!

What kind of chicks are you raising?

Different breeds have different levels of skittishness.

sorry should have posted that I have what i believe to be 4 production reds tsc and 2 Jersey giants tsc so could be something else and I have 2 americaunas one white and one multicolor

I do find that the chicks seem to perk up a bit when I go near. Perhaps they'll enjoy it if you let them outside in the run, for a bit of a run around?

yeah it would be a great idea except the run isnt finished... still working on it almost done.

Ah well, good luck with that. Even just letting them out in the garden for a while and keeping an eye on them would be okay. We never really had a run - lost the chicks in among the plants a couple of times, but they enjoyed it.
