My golden comet has a red underbelly

She is laying eggs and seems happy but her underbelly is all red and most of the feathers are gone. Should I be cocerned?

Is she going broody on you? Bare bellies are usually indicative of a bird going broody. She is pulling out her own feathers to line a nest and to create bare brood patches for egg hatching.

No, she is laying eggs and very much out and about.

How old is she? Could she be going into a molt?

she is 1 1/2 years old. I picked her up and touch her belly and she did not seem discomforted. It does seem likre this wou;d be a good time for her to start molting.

She's at that age and it is that time of year. It seems odd that she would molt like that, but each bird is different. I am including a link to molting in laying hens:
