My Golden Comet has done it!

I didn't think she would pull it off but to my relief, she did it. One hatched on day 20, 4 on day 21. There is pipping on one of the two remaining eggs, finger crossed. So far, she seems to be a good mother...fingers crossed again.

I don't know what the rooster looks like, or which hens laid those eggs, but I think you are really going to like how some of those feather out.

forget the term 'mutts' they are chickens, pure chickens (gallus domesticus)

lovely babies.

also, it is funny how so many people on BYC make such gross generalizations, like 'hatchery birds' don't ever go broody, etc..............now let's just hope she sticks with it
