I really like the old sewing machine whose photo you have shared here. I also have the 70's singer model and it's working rightly perfectly. I like to sew on it, it's smooth & fast. I don't have any problem with it till date, but obviously it doesn't have much styles & patterns to work on. So, very soon i can get a new one...

I have my grandmother's treadle sewing machine. I even have the payment book for it. Gramma made payment on the machine for three years before she got the machine. It it a 1935 machine and is in working order. I never saw her sew anything, during my life, but I have a dress that she sewed on it and a quilt top. I would love to finish the quilt top on the machine, but I might just have to have a motor installed on it. I don't know that I can figure out how make it go with the treadle. I had to have my son put a new veneer on the top of the cabinet. We sat a fish tank on it for some years. I regret that now.

I just made a bag from a feed sack using the directions I found in this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=374147

Sorry for the dark picture I tried to lighten it up some. The machine is in it's original cabinet sewing table it came in. It will fold down inside and the extension swings up and over so that it makes a side table, but who ever does that? hehe

hehe don't you love it? And you can get these 201's for around $150 if you don't already have one, a LOT less than the better machines sell for! I'd say they're a real bargain. You can sew anything, even leather on them.
