it finally hit daughter last night that Ayden wasnt comming home with her and she was crying. her boyfriend crawled into bed with her and held her. she was ok today... The took baby off the respirator last night but had to put him back on it because he was breathing too hard. they will try again in a couple of days. his lungs are better...He is still very active and likes to hold his breathing tube...

I feel so sorry for her it is such a wrench - and then not being there for her baby. She does need the rest and the break though. Prem babies are a lot more work and a lot harder the care for in their first year than full terms. Your Dd is going to need all the rest and support she can get. It is good that her BF is so loving towards her and understanding of what she is needing right now!!! I know its hard way hard. We didn;t get our twin boys home for a very very long time so I can so understand were you Dd is at.

You are all in our thoughts -

Your family will be in my prayers. I am a father of a micro premie. Our son was born at 22 weeks and weighed 1lb 9 ozs. He had a 3% chance of survival. Needless to say after 9 months of the hospital he finally came home. Doctors said he would not walk, talk, see, or hear. Guess what? He is 8 and a half years old and does everything they said he would not. These kids are tough and can do things we could not. Just keep an open mind and pray and it will work out.

I am so glad your son is ok... Tomorrow they will attempt for the second time to take him off the respirator.... please pray that it will work this time... thank you

My baby girl Charlotte was 7 weeks early. I never cried so hard in my life, the day I left the hospital without my tiny baby girl in my arms!! Oh it was awful. I know exactly how your daughter feels, God bless her.

Your grandson is adorable and the more spunk they show in that NICU, the better off they will be. Believe me. My baby girl was pulling out her tubes from her nose and everything and the doctor said, "I've been working here in this NICU for 15 years and I can tell you, the babies like your daughter are the ones who go home earliest and do the best."

I really hope he comes home soon. He's gorgeous, by the way.

thanks... the doc was smiling and said he was a bad baby. the didnt get the tubes out yesterday. unless something bad happened to him lastnight the tubes were coming out today. he is on th elowest setting and keeps fighting the respirator.

That sounds really possitive stuff. Dh and I are thinking of you all and hope it all goes well. The wee man will rally much once he starts to breath on his own and then they can concentrate on the feeding issue. I guess he is being tube fed as they don;t have the sucking reflux developed at that gustation. It will come though - it did eventually with our twins.

Love to you all today tell your Dd were thinking of her.

ayden is still on the respirator and will be for a little while. he has lost 8 oz and now weighs only 2lbs 15 oz... but is now getting 2 oz fed over 24 hours. all other tests are coming back normal...

Thank you for all the support and prayers
