My boyfriend has been working away on building the girls' coop while I spend all my time with them in the house. I don't often get to see him interacting with them but I did get to take this photo yesterday...

Gorgeous, content birds! Are they EE's?

my hubby's all gruff about the chickens but he's the one out there making sure the coop's secure, checking sites about chicken stuff and reminding me to check them upteen times a day.... men!

nice pic, (i won't say a word-my hubby would kill me too).

Patsy was sold to me as an Ameraucana, but could be an EE. Lucille is a Buff.

My honey is out in the yard right now, working on tractor run of sorts. Our yard isn't be best for full-on free ranging because of our dog, random cats, a huge dog next door and a flimsy fence. This way they can get off their dirt floor and get some green grass and weeds from time to time.

My DH wasn't so thrilled after we got our first 6 pack of chicks and I decided I wanted more. I first bought a styrofoam incubator and decided I was going to hatch some chicks. He wasn't to pleased. I had a few hatches in the styrofoam incubator and slowly he was over checking out the eggs. Then I got a super deal on a cabinet incubator that I just couldn't pass up. Oh boy now I could hatch more chicks. I told him I was going to sell the cabinet incubator and he suggested that I try it out first, so I did. It originally had a wafer thermostat. After some hatches in it we decided to get a digital thermostat and DH installed it. Now when we have company and if we have chicks in our brooder cabinet or eggs in the incubator he must show the company. We sell our eggs and vegies from our gardens. Now he takes customers on a coop tour to see all of our birds. He talks to all of the birds and treats them every night. I think it is so funny that we went from 6 RIR pullets to over 100 birds and the road we took to get there and how my ideas eventually became DH's ideas. Go figure. I hope my short story makes sense. Just thought I'd share. My guy and our birds.
