I was canning salsa last night and was careful to wash my hands
and not touch the peppers, so success, no burning, yes, so .... I check on it while it simmers, then a couple minutes after stirring the salsa MY HANDS WERE ON FIRE. I guess the steam coming off the simmering salsa made them start burning. I hate the burning sensation of peppers

I bet that will be some good salsa!

I love hot peppers. We can them as fast as they get ready and I eat them with everything. I ate probably 9 or 10 jalepenos right by themselves last night! I love hot peppers!!!!!!

When you are stopped up with a cold and can't breathe...eat a hot pepper and it will clear you right out!

What is it they say to use? Milk? Or is that only if you swallow one?

Can I have your recipe

Always wear gloves! I do, and no burning hands! We can too, and I love them pickled. I also do salsa! My Dh once was cutting peppers to grill, after he popped them in foil and put them on the grill, he went to the bathroom, not thinking, you know, you don't think to wash before you go. He will never make that mistake again!
It lasted for hours.

OMGosh me too!!!! My finger tips burned so bad, I couldn't even type on here!!! DH didn't believe me but it hurt!! Like a dummy, I seeded the peppers with my hands! BIG MISTAKE..LOL. I washed them well and everything, that was terrible! Under the nails hurt too. I couldn't even put my hands under the warm blankets at night, it hurt!

I feel your pain girl!!

I make hot pepper jelly with Habanero peppers. I ALWAYS wear gloves-but it went through the rubber gloves last year! My hands burned terribly! I used Burt's Bees Rescue Ointment and it disappeared instantly. Good stuff, that!

Thanks for the tips guys, I did wear gloves during the salsa making/chopping etc.. But I did not think about the steam coming off of it would cause the burning sensation
