But I am afraid of shipped eggs, but I buy them anyways. Lots don't make it, but I am always thrilled when some do!

Before now, I wouldn't have touched shipped eggs in a LG with a 10 foot pole, but now I'm starting to consider it....

Why not? I just wouldn't drop a lot of money into them for first try...

Find something cheap or a friend that'll take shipping cost for some and give it a go... won't learn how to do it til ya try...

I really think the cold weather had more to do with your eggs than anything... you know those boys don't like to swim when it's freezing... unless they are charter members of the Polar Bear Club...

True, and I suspect I will have even more trouble, with the alpha rooster getting frostbite and all.... So yes, getting eggs from elsewhere sounds like a good plan to me.
