I have been reading on BYC about predators getting into runs and coops and killing your dear friends, but I knew that mine were safe in their hardware cloth pen elevated three feet off the ground. I was wrong. I just went to give my girls their morning fruit and hugs, and my Cookie was laying in pieces around the pen. Crumb was making very sad noises, and allowed me to pick her up for the first time ever.
These girls were so funny together. Crumb was the runt, and she followed Cookie everywhere, and did everything Cookie did. Now she is alone at six weeks, and I don't know what to do.
(The only thing I can figure is that something squeezed between the tin roof and the beam. I'm going to send Crumb to a safer home until I can get this fixed.)
