My hen beats up the rooster!!??

So is there any way to get him to the top?

Our flock is a female-dominated flock. None of the roos have ever been in charge and I haven't had any problems with that. Our head hen is an Australorp and is much larger than most of my flock. I've seen her get into one scuffle, but that's it. Otherwise, it seems to be live and let live. Our head roo is a very gentle silkie and the second roo is a serama. If the girls don't want to squat, they don't (the chicks tend to say they do eventually). I've seen my second smallest silkie hen drag a rooster around the yard by his comb, because he kept trying. He learned not to do that again.

If the roo is not being hurt, the best thing to do IMO is to let nature take its course. He will eventually get tired of being henpecked (pun intended) and rise to the top or at the very least, be willing to better defend himself.

I have a flock of 12 1/4 chickens. I have a silkie roo who is one month younger than my first 4 hens. Of those hens, my barred rock, Pebbles is the top hen. She totally ignore the roo unless he is showing them food. He doesn't even try to dance for her much less mount her. But, if he even looks twice at my feet, she goes after him. She has even gone after him for chasing the dog. Funny, though, when he goes after my EE, or any other chicken, she doesn't care. I figure she thinks of me as her rooster, since she comes running to me and then squates. Personally, I like having a hen that puts the evil roo in his place once in a while. There is never any blood, just humiliation.
