My hen escaped and came back badly injured

What is her crop? She has been esting and drinking ok and she laid an egg this morning. I gave her some canned cat food as a treat. She seems to be sleeping more today, but there's really not much for her to do in her little makeshift hospital crate. I did take her outsode for a bit today to visit with her sisters and soak up some sun. They seemed happy to see her but again, she mostly slept.

I googled to see what her crop is. Now Im worried. I found this on the internet - opinions?

If she's eating, drinking, and nothing is dripping out, I think she has a good chance of healing. Do you have a food scale that you can start weighing her on every morning before she eats?

I have a postage scale! Thats a great idea.
If she's pooping is that a good sign of digestion? She pooped all over my shirt when I was carrying her around this afternoon...

Pooping is a very good sign! Start weighing her and if she loses 5% of her body weight you will have to tube feed her. This is much easier that it sounds, so don't freak out. :D
Sick birds need to drink no less than 5% of their body weight per day, and if she's laying she needs about 15% per day.

I would probably go ahead and have her see a vet in case they want to suture wound. I would put on antibiotics as a preventative.

We dont really have a vet to see. There is one guy that I took my rooster tonwhen he had frostbite, but he's kind of a "You have to realize its just a chicken" kind of person. And I dont have a lot of money to travel to the good chicken vets.

Yeah you would think if her crop were affected you'd see it from the outside. Hopefully she got lucky.
Good job with those pictures.
In your pix under the bandage, there is a bulbous round pocket that looks like its plucked, in the front under her neck on the right side. Thats what you called the "bulgy part." We think thats her crop, where her food goes to be digested, kind of like a cow.
If that bulgy pocket starts to weep from the outside, you've gotten good advice from staceyj, get some superglue and glue the hole the stuff is seeping out of shut. The stuff coming out would be digesting food. If no seeping, leave that bulb alone but realize under that bulb is an important part for a chicken.
Whew!
