Buttercup is the best
Chirping
Hello everybody!
So a few months ago my 1 year old hen Juniper was getting mounted by the head hen, and badly had feathers missing from her back. 3 weeks ago I finally noticed that other hens were starting to miss feathers too, and then saw my head hen mounting them in the coop. I have now isolated the head hen for 1 week, and plan to keep her in the cage until the other girls feathers grow back. This issue has been solved, so it isn't the problem. So now that Juniper's feathers are growing back, I noticed that her beak looked bloody, but not on the surface. Almost like when you smash a fingernail and it looks bloody and bruised underneath the nail. Then just yesterday, I noticed her upper mandible looking deformed, it looks like it has dried up, or deflated. I would like to know if anybody has had a similar problem, and what they did about it. Should I leave it alone? Or is there a way I can treat it. I have attached photos of it as well. Thanks! Please let me know! Any help would be well appreciated!
