My hen has gone broody (over nothing)!

Hello,

I am a new member with an old problem. I have a small flock of hens that have recently started laying. One of my Silkie's has gone broody and I am worried about her. I have read somewhere in the past how to stop a hen from going broody, but can not some up with where I read it.

I pick her up several times a day and put her with the rest of the flock, but she goes back and sits again (on nothing!)

Please help! And, I love my chickens!

Well you can just let it run its course....it's not hurting her. But if you want her to get back to egg laying you can put her in a cage that is off the floor so she has nothing to hunker down in. She may have to be in there a week or so to break her. Be sure she has access to food and water.
I was lucky with my first broodys, I took the nest out of the coop and within a few days they stopped. It took like another week before they started laying again though.
