I haven't been able to find one of my turkey hens for several weeks, and this morning I saw her coming toward the house from the overgrown part of the pasture. Guess what she was towing behind her? 12 tiny poults, cute as can be, with big dark eyes! Hoorah. I can't believe she hatched them outside despite all these severe thunderstorms we've had for the past several days. What a tough girl!
I moved her and her brood into a small pen inside the barn before another rainstorm hit this evening and she seemed very happy (and hungry).
