Yay, I'm so happy for youUpdate whoohoo we have five baby chicks this morning and they are doing well View attachment 2213443View attachment 2213444View attachment 2213445
Thanks! She does have food and water close by. She's blocked off too. I've incubated eggs many times before, just never with a broody hen. I removed 2 eggs so she has 8. A couple kept rolling out overnight somehow. I just tossed those 2.Ok well it’s better to make sure other chickens can’t get to her right now or they will lay eggs where the others are and man that gets confusing lol
Put food and water very close to her she will get up when she wants and eat and drink .
You can go in at night on day 14 and candle them
( there’s many ways to do this I just simply take the egg carefully and put it on my phone light cup my hand around it and see it looks like the egg will be half blacked out and half lit up
That’s a fertile egg
If it looks like a see through egg it’s not fertile and you can throw it out then gently replace them back under her ever so gently and she may peck so I use my scooper to slowly easily raise her up to get one egg at a time then reverse it and put them back easily
Then don’t touch them again and leave her be and say 19/23 you should have that many babies
