My hen hatched out very first chick :) Q's

Real quick: My hen hatched a little one yesterday!


Does she feed and water the little one somehow? Or do I have to put food and water out there the chick can get to??

The food, the chick can get to inside the coop... But the water is a 3gal unit raised off the ground OUTSIDE, therefore the chick can't get water. Will the mother bring in water in her beak or somehthing???

No she won't bring it water,you will have to make or buy a small waterer for the chick to drink from.

The little chick is cute man... running around the hen... never more than 4" from her. HA!

The broody won't feed the the chick like avians do, but she'll take it out and show the baby how to forage. Make sure you have food and water available that the chick can get to. Good luck with the little guy!
