I too, have a pullet with a hurt leg. I examined her legs thoroughly and noticed the joint on one is larger than the other. I have just started free-ranging them a couple weeks ago, so maybe she overdid it. The other 5 are all healthy and adventuresome. This one lays around a lot, won't scratch for food and is definitely at the bottom of the pecking order, so I thought maybe she was picked on too much (which isn't the case, they all get along quite well). So I wondered if she had an illness not wanting to run with the others and just appearing disinterested. So now I can start to fix the problem. She has gotten quite friendly since she can't move as quickly as before. She seems to like being petted. I soaked her feet (a very hot day today, she seemed grateful!) I will try confining her and aspirin and see if I can get the swelling down. Thank you for posting your problem! Hope your hen is well very soon!
