My hen is acting very weird

I have a hen who has been acting strange for awhile now, she has a blurry right eye and when i talk to her she waves her head and looks around. She is 3 years old and has been a good layer. I don't know what's wrong with her. I was thinking she may have an infection in her eye so i was going to put some eye drops in but i was scared that wasn't it. I don't want to looser her because she is one of my best layers. Anyone know what's wrong with her?

In the meantime you can Google "eye disorders in poultry" for a couple of good articles. Common problems with eyes can be due to infection, pecking wounds, cataracts, vitamin A or E deficiency, high ammonia odor in coop, Mareks disease, and avian encephalomyelitis as a chick. I would look inside the eye for debris such as dirt, a seed, or gunk. Compare the color and shape with the other eye.
