So I have a hen that has not moved from her nest in 5 days, she is one of the roosters favorites and I know she is on eggs. My question is can I take the eggs out to candle or should I just leave them and wait for them to maybe hatch? I have never had a broody hen before so this is new for me, I welcome all info on the process![IMG]

You could sneak them out from under her to candle them, or you could just let nature take its course and see what you get. Of course, if you smell a bad one you'll need to get that out of there.
If you do want to look at them and she gets especially growly at you or pecks too much, you may have to try taking them out at night.

  3. If you really want to candle them, sneak the eggs out at night and make it quick.
