My hen is crowing

His breast is awfully small for a CX?

Well...do hens crow? Honestly just wondering. These are my first chickens. We got them at a couple days old on May 22, so they are still young. It bocks like the other chickens, ya know "bock bock bock" but it also "cockadoodledoos" and the others don't. Shoot, the way the world is now, maybe it just "identifies" as a rooster lol idk.

Looks like a cornish rooster to me. I would not separate just yet. Your birds look happy and healthy right now.
I would start making plans for him. These birds are not long lived. There bodies are heavy and legs eventually can not support it. If there is no signs of harm or aggresion yet i would just be watchful of him.
If he does start to give your hens problems, look to dress him out.
We have an an Amish comunity that dresses your chickens for 2 dollars a bird.
Good luck!

They do all get along. No signs of aggression yet. He/she even kinda "protects" the newer chickens from the two bigger girls. (We have 6 total, but 3 of them are newer and about 1 month old. They all free range together)
He is starting to waddle and sits down A LOT. I have to take him in and out of the coop bc he can't make the jump like the other ones do.
He seems happy and healthy overall, we have two young children who have named the chickens and they LOOOOVE "Biggie". We bought laying hens w the intention that they would just die of natural causes and live however long chickens live. So I'm having a hard time deciding what to do with Biggie. I mean, he could "just go missing" one day, but i would like to keep him as long as he isn't suffering- if that makes sense.
I know ppl get chickens for meat, it just wasn't my intention. I'm all for fresh meat, and we'll do what we need to, I'm just kinda sad for him. And irritated that the feed store advertised him as a female Orpington.

Was not questioning it's gender, but it's breed...
....breast seems very smallf or a 3mo CX meat bird.

Hey y'all, so a month or so ago i posted about "what breed is this" y'all helped me out SO much and determined "she" is a Cornish X. Well we decided to keep her and let her live her best life (she was bought for eggs, but was supposed to be Orpington)
Ok fast forward a month..."she" has begun to crow. So that's pretty cool (not)
Anyway, my question is...this bird is HUGE i fear for my much smaller girls. And i literally had no idea how random chickens are at feed stores. I didn't plan in a rooster. Do they now need to be separated? Will he hurt my smaller girls if/when he decides it's sexy time?
Heeeeelp me out.

If it's confirm that she is she then it's a Dominant female behavior to show the flock that she is the leader or she hear a rooster crowing and try to sing the same Copy Cat lol
But
You sure she is she I mean ...??
I was always think my Teetee is a female until he crow one day I feel this funny but it happen ..

If your bird is young then I might say u should check again :D

Ooooh gotcha. I wasn't trying to be ugly, i honestly don't know. They make all kinds of sounds, i wouldn't be surprised to learn they can mimic neighboring roosters lol
Anyway, i am not 100% what breed it is. It was sold as an Orpington HEN. I am pretty sure it isn't Orpington, i thought leghorn, but then the consensus here (earlier post) was Cornish X. So I'm just relying on the knowledge of others. If you have a different guess, I'm open to it. I would love to hear it isn't a meat chicken and that it's just big and will live comfortably and issue free. But given the size and already waddle, I'm afraid it probably won't be the case. But what do you think it is?

I am not 100% sure what it is lol it was definitely crowing, but DO they copy cat? Bc every morning have neighboring roosters from every side of the area. It does dominate, but shoot, it NEEDS more food than the others lol. My neighbor has had several and she actually brought it to my attention - "you know that's a male, right?" And a week later it crowed. So idk. I guess we'll see if national geographic stuff starts happening. Hopefully i see it before my 2 and 4yr olds
