My hen is missing. Does anyone have suggestions on where she is. Or any reason she's gone except that she's dead. I'm trying not to think about that. I hope she will come back with chicks!

not much can be done except look and hope [IMG]

I just thought I would add some hope...even if you never find her....

I just picked up a hen off craigslist 2 weeks ago that was a "stray" that wandered into a trailer park. these people fed and cared for her but then the trailer park told them they could not keep her. after getting her I realized that she is awfully friendly and doesn't mind being handled and pet, she must have been someones before becoming a "stray". I feel bad that someone may be missing their hen, but she is in my care now and all my birds are extrememly pampered. so maybe she wandered into "greener pastures".

on another note...I have had a hen return after being gone for 2 days following a fox attack.

was she in the coop when you closed it up last? do you do a head count? check under your coop, any barns, sheds, trees near by to see if she roosted outside the coop that night. if she was in a secured coop the last time you saw her then I would fear the worst for her, hope not, let us know if you find her. also if she was taken by a predator while in the coop you must find the way it entered because it will be back for another dinner! good luck

Thanks everyone. She dissapeared in the short hour that my hens free range in. I have searched a lot. There are so many people with hens that live around me that it's hard to ask everyone. Maybe I should put up posters...

Did you look in the trees? My silly birds love tree roosting to be naughty.
