She was a Buff Orpington, around 4-5 years old. We got her along with a RIR in 2015. My profile picture is her when she was a few weeks old. I'm still trying to find out the cause of death. I have a Brown Leghorn that's a year older and she's still doing fine. The temperature has been mild, 30-60 Fahrenheit. I'll try to take a picture later tonight. Her name was Chewy if you want to send prayers.

Very sorry for your loss of Chewy. Has she been acting normal lately or having any problems? It can be common to lose a hen that age, since they can suffer from many different illnesses. If you want to keep her body cool, and send it to the state poultry lab tomorrow morning, they may be able to find out what was wrong. But it is understandable if you would like to bury her instead. This is a list of state vets to contact for a necropsy:

Sometimes things just happen 😓 my barred rock randomly died too. Birds can easily have heart attacks. But anything is possible.
