So one of my hens laid her very first egg and I am really happy and excited. But I have 2 questions:
1- The size of the egg is much smaller compared to the other eggs. Is it normal for a hen to lay smaller eggs first?

2- Can we expect a hen to go broody after her first egg? If yes then how to encourage her?

First eggs are generally small - they increase in size throughout the laying cycle. Broodiness depends upon the breed. Some never go broody, some lay for a spell and then go broody, others lay a clutch of 8 to 12 or more and then go broody. What breed hen do you have ?

The one I am talking about is Brahma
