My hen lay her first eggs. Yah!

[/IMG]Why did the chicken fly over the fence and spend the night in the playhouse? To lay eggs.

To my surprise, she laid 3 eggs in the playhouse which I am assuming was over 3 nights. When i approached her she walked to the playhouse. It was as if she was showing me.

I put golf balls in the nest boxes and then my egg layer immediately inspected the box and started cooing softly. Can't wait to see the nest box in the morning. So eggcited. (Bad joke, couldn't resist).

Congratulations!!! Isn't it just so cool to find eggs? One of mine just started laying a couple of weeks ago, another started just a few days ago. One other is "practicing" by sitting in the nesting box (she's an EE, and will lay green eggs - I know she hasn't laid any yet, as I've only gotten tan colored eggs).

It's like finding little special presents!

Six of my hens are laying now, first hen started at 16 weeks. I found an egg this morning that had just been laid and was still warm. My daughter requested pancakes. We cracked the egg and it was a double yolker.

I just watched one of my girls poop her egg. She allowed me to pet her as she was in the act. They are so tame, love them all.
