Ha! Thats how it starts. Just want a few hens to lay nice fresh eggs for the family....................owning chicken can become addictive.
Godd luck and enjoy.

Omg that's sooo cute! What breed is that? I'm new to this chicken biz but I have 3 three old sex links outside n 3 new lil chicks in the house. One rhode island red and two barred rock. But ur momma chicken is my kinda girl, stayed on the couch where it's warm n comfy!
the moma (olive) is a Black Astralorp her chicks are Black Astralorp Americana mixes an some are Black Astralorp Cochin Bared Rock mixes! Not only is Olive pretty she is very very sweet too! i highly recomend Black Astralorps!

do you guys know if the way to tell a roo from a hen as a chick bye looking at the wings is true or not? if it is true i think i have 2 roos if not idk how many i have

feather sexing does work.. I have had it work on mutts as well as birds that were bred for it.. BUT the ones that are bred for it tend to show a much bigger difference in the feathers. My main rooster Jack is a mutt.. but he comes from feather sexing breeds.. so he has their genes combined and his offspring are pretty easy to feather sex ..so far I have had 100% accuracy on his kids even though they are mutts

To do it though they should be just fluffed up from the hatcher to about 24 hours... so you are a bit beyond that point now
