my hen looks like shes gasping for air

she has been doing this all day and i have a video and was curious as to what it is.. no runny nose, no wheezing, or anything shes my biggest hen..i have a video but cant upload it.. but she will be fine then she will raise her neck up and open her mouth like shes going to vomit.. shes still eating and drinking water and has been wormed before we got her.. any ideas

ive been watching her today my neighbor came over today and massaged her neck and she vomited stuff and hasnt done it since.. so who knows thanks for repsonding

It's either pnemounia or gapeworm. I guess you can see gapeworm when opening the beak. I would think it would be hard to eat with gapeworm.

However, one of my chickens acquired pnemounia and this was her first symptom. I treated with vitamins, antibiotics and probiotics.

Is that "gasp" a repetitive action or just once in awhile. When in doubt worm with something like valbazen. I worm routinely every 4 mos or so. Much easier to be on a schedule than to put out fires when they are sick. Please check out my link in my signature line.

I will get some of that stuff.. My neighbor who grew up around chickens came over and rubbed her crop and then she vomited and is just fine now.. It only happened ever so often.. im learning im a mew chicken momma.. I will check out your link thanks

Gapeworm and fungal pneumonia (aspergillosis) can appear that way. (I can't see the video though.)

Your chicken is acting just as normal as mine. Mine will do that opening mouth thing, most of the time mine do it because they are trying to get food down there throats into the crop. She seems to eat then does it.. She looks normal to me, I'm more concerned about her eyes, there seems to be some swelling underneath the eye.
