My hen suddenly can’t seem to use her legs

We do have Tylan (we have a awesome first aid kit) I can’t find any ticks on her but she’s got ALOT of feathers. Would it be one tick bite or can I check for signs in the coop I don’t think it’s mareks because I don’t know how she would have gotten it. She’s still perky and eating a TON Definitely doesn’t look like a chicken that gonna go outta nowhere. Still get nothing from the other leg

Ok. Well right leg is getting strong and will grip my fingers with both feet! But the leg is the same. I’m hoping this changes soon. The sudden movement of her other leg and her feet gives me hope. But still don’t know what caused it. I feel terrible that all she does is sit there in the house by herself or with me for like three days straight now. Considering I don’t know what caused it do you think it would be safe to put her In the large dog crate with the rest of the chickens in the run? At least she can be around the rest of the flock but be in the crate so she’s protected sent she is defenseless right now

That would be a great idea to place her with her flock in a wire dog crate. Sorry that she hasn’t toally improved, but glad that you are seeing some. I would keep giving vitamins. Hopefully, it was caused by an injury or vitamin deficiency, but Mareks can be in our environments and spread by wild birds.

If she laid an egg, then it might have been a temporary nerve problem. Hope she suddenly gets up. Ticks can cause a lot of bad diseases including spirochetosis which can be treated with Tylan or tetracyclines.

Ticks. I hate them. They are killing us. You say you have ticks in your area. Please, if you start having flu like symptoms, joint pain, muscle pain, actually any illness at all, please find a Lyme literate doctor via ILADS. My daughter was told years ago sz he possibly had Lupus. Then they said no it wasn't that. She was sent to specialists for arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus...finally saying she had fibromyalgia. A year and a half ago she started stuttering like porky pig. Sorry, fibromyalgia doesn't stutter. She was given Lyme test, negative. The doctor had a hunch and sent her sample to a different lab that does deeper testing. Not only does she have Lyme disease but she also has Babesiosis and possibly other tick borne diseases. It has caused neurological encephalopathy. She cannot work. She cannot think clearly. Her gait is wobbly. She hurts all the time. She lost 40 pounds. CDC protocols are 30 days of antibiotics and you are now cured. Don't believe them. IF you catch it early enough it can work. Not everyone gets bullseye rash. She may have been infected 15 years ago. The spiroketes are in her brain. In her bones. Her muscles. If they get to her heart...
Sorry to hijack this thread. Ticks are just a very sore subject in my house. I'm her main caregiver since I'm a retired nurse.

Thank you. I'm now a warrior against this disease and try to educate people (including Doctors) of this epidemic . Yes, it is an epidemic. We have a family member who has been being treated for multiple sclerosis for years. Nope. It's Lyme. Lyme gets misdiagnosed almost every time.

The morning I found her not walking the others attacked her when i gave her a bowl of food and then any time after that if I took 2 steps away. So crate for her protection. Got home this morning and she had a loose poop and as I was getting anew pad for her. I heard a squirt and the worst smell ever and looked in and I was almost water poop. Oh it staShe ate and drank right away after that

Sorry. My post I wrote this morning never posted ... she’s had more liquid type poop while I was asleep and now she doesn’t want to much to do with food.. even boiled egg. Just as I thought things were going uphill

I'm so sorry, how frustrating!

Are you still doing vitamins? If not I'd begin again and start giving her eye dropper or syringes of electrolytes for the diarrhea. Hopefully it was just the stress of being bullied; a chicken being picked on won't eat or drink much with other's nearby and after an attack or two won't eat or drink much even safe in a crate because if they can still see her she's not convinced they can't get her.

I'd bring her back in, in the tote, at least until you've got her hydrated and eating again.

Sorry for the bad day. The other chickens can sense when one is sick, and it is normal for them to attack or bully the sick bird. She will probably only get to be with them while in the dog crate.
