I have a hen who’s wattle looks purple. Her behavior is normal and don’t notice anything different expect the wattle. And it is swollen looking. Is this something to be highly concerned about?

Where are you located in the world?
What's your temperatures like?
What do you feed including treats?

Looks like both wattles are swollen and underneath her beak is too. Can you look inside her beak (look under the tongue, at the roof of the mouth and throat if possible) to make sure there's no lesions, yellow or white pasty or crusty material. Take note if there is a bad odor too.

I’m in Texas. Temperature is usually 45 in the mornings during fall and gets hotter as the day goes on. She is the only one who has this. All the other chickens look fine. Yesterday and gotten out of her run and a dog chased after her and roughed her up. But she was ok and didn’t see any signs of injury. I feed them laying feed crumbles and mealy worms for treats. I’ll have to take a look tomorrow. I did look inside all their beaks last weekend and saw nothing unusual

Dog roughed her up?
It may be injury. I would look her over really well.

Yea I’ll check everything first thing in the morning along with checking inside the beak. Is there anything specific I should be looking for?

Look for injury, puncture wounds, note any odors, whether her crop is empty in the morning...I would also check over all of her just to make sure there's no bruising or hidden injuries under the feathers since the dog go a hold of her.

Ok thank you. I’ll check and I’ll post whatever I see
