Dumb question, I have a hen who won't stop clucking.
We got our chicks on March 15th, 2012, so she's not quite laying age yet.
We free range our chickens and they have a coop/run as well.
It has been unseasonably warm and dry here in Missouri, but my other chickens seem okay with these conditions thus far, we change the water at least once a day, (we have a 5 gallon plastic waterer, and they usually don't use it all, but I try to keep it clean)
And plenty of food is available.
She walks around and just cluck cluck clucks non stop.
It doesn't exactly sound like a stressed out call, but it's definitely kind of distressing and unusual?
These are our first chicks, so is this something we should be concerned with?
She's doesn't look physically unwell, she eats, and when she goes in to roost at night, she shuts up then.
It's just during the day.
I should clarify she does have moments where she shuts up, but she seems to have spurts of clucking that last at least 30 minutes at a time.
I hate to say this, but I don't know if I could justify a vet bill for one chook, around here it would be at least $50, and that's more than I'd be able to do at this time.
(dont take that as I'm unwilling to invest in my chooks, I am, just would like to avoid it if possible!)
It would break my heart to have to slaughter her this early (we are pretty intent on using our chickens for meat, but this is one of the chickens we were hoping to "breed")

Any ideas?
Am I just worrying over nothing?
The noise isn't a big deal, just confusing because the rest don't really do it, the hens do make a bit of clucking noises here and there, but no others cluck repeatedly for long periods like she does.
Thanks!

I'll start by saying I have not had chickens for long and I am in no way an expert.

One of my chickens is super noisy, but she's fine. I bought them from a chicken farmer who said she was always noisy. Maybe yours is just a noisy chuck? Mine makes a variety of noises non stop, and her cluck varies from cluck-cluck-cluck, to a purr, a hysterical screech or an impatient tut. Perhaps it's just the drama queen within :D

It is probably nothing to worry about. I have a real loudmouth too, while the others are reasonably quiet. I find it irritating when I am doing a big project outside to have to listen to her nagging. I discovered that playing music makes her zip her beak. Yep, she is probably just a drama queen.
