My hens @ 6.5 months are still not laying

You need to block off the nestboxes at dusk and open them up during the day.

You would find some remnants of egg. Usually just a stick yellow goop, but sometimes shells, but not always.

As promised. One of my hens finally laid an egg. This from my Blue Andalusian (? Not 100% sure of the breed)
The white egg is a commercial Grade AA Extra Large egg for size comparison

It's a Marans egg; Andalusians produce white eggs. Nice though! And I do like my Marans!
