I was holding my americana amber and suddenly she popped out a shelles egg! It was fully formed exept it had no shell! only membrane! This has happened before with a couple of my hens, is this bad? My hens are all just over a year old if that has anything to do with it. What could be causing this? How could I help them complete forming their eggs before laying them?

I had this happen for about 4 days in a row. Give them more calcium, in the form of crushed oyster shells or even crushed egg shells.

You should always offer oyster shell to your birds. Also, keep sand or grit for them, too, so that their gizzards can grind up and help them to digest any treats you might give them.
