My hens are trespassing!

Personally. I love my chickens. And that includes all the responsibilities that go along with taking good care of them, feeding them, keeping their environment clean, keeping MY environment clean.... They are MY CHICKENS, you know? Even the less-than-glamorous parts of it.

But oh man! ... I’d hate it if I had a neighbor who allowed their chickens to just come over, hang out, and crap everywhere on MY PROPERTY.
TRUST ME, we’d be having “conversation” over this.

No different than someone’s dog coming over to poop on my lawn or driveway or porch... see what I’m saying?

X5!
I work with a really nice animal loving lady who is PHOBIC about anything bird related. She will not come to my house, even though I would keep my birds up.
I have good neighbors and I have good fences. they go hand in claw.

It is always better to be a good neighbor. If a neighbor has expressed they don't want your animals on their lawn, no matter how trivial it is to you, it's better to change the situation to meet their requirements. It is their property after all. You would want the same respect in regards to yours.

It will keep a good neighbor good and your chickens safe. I am sorry it will alter things but honestly it will also create a better image for everyone in the neighborhood in regards to chickens. I personally want people to feel more comfortable with chickens and that means doing things right.

We seem to have lost the OP...

You have a few choices as I see it ...

1. Build a fence.
2. Tether.
3. Put them in a pot with potatoes and garlic, add a little rosemary and black pepper ...
4. Do nothing but wait and see if the neighbor calls the law, and you get fined, and chickens removed ... and then you get to be the jerk of the neighborhood.

Wow! I don't get notifications on this site and just checked back in now. I am building the fence and have not let them free range any more since the complaint. The 5 hens only went on the border of the two, over 2 acre lots in natural areas. They do not get into her lawn nor driveway. Pardon me for complaining. I am waiting to get paid so I can buy more supplies. I asked the home owner when I got the hens and share eggs. I would never get a flock without allowing them to safely free range.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions
