We live in Va. and have 20 chickens. We have kept lights and a heat lamp in their coop all winter. The light is is still on, but not the heat lamp. The hens laid all winter long and did nicely for us. Four weeks ago it was still cold, and now it is starting to warm up. We were getting anywhere from 16 to 19 eggs a day! Now we are only getting 6 to 10. We don't see anybody molting, everyone looks healthy. They are fed good laying pellets, a Flock Block, some scraps, and turned out two to five times a week to forage. Fresh water, and we clean the hen house regular. We have about 5 customers that buy eggs regularly from us, and I have been turning them away do to lack of eggs. WHAT HAPPENED!

Funny I had the same problem but in my case the completely quit laying and being my oldest coop I thought that there egg laying days were over. But I waited for 1 -2 -3 months and finally they are laying again and I can't figure out why they stopped.

I have the same problem, all mine stopped laying the first week of October. One though has finally laid 2 eggs so far, her comb has turned a nice bright red so I knew she was getting close she's a New Hampshire, the other 2 are Dark RIR and neither one of them has a red comb, they actually look almost a dull pink and they seem to have no interest in the nesting boxes

They all will be 3 in June.

Hi From Washington State,
So....Where are some answers my fellow chicken hawks? I have 8 that have laid a dozen+ last year and a wonderful winter laying very well through the snowy months. Two weeks ago we started getting 2 per day. Two hens, one each per day. These girls vent's are puckered up! (Not litterally, after inspection, all looks good). They are about 3 years old. Are they done? All at once?, doubtful. So what gives. This is my 1 yr. anniversary of having a flock. I do have 1 rooster. Peace all and help us.
