I don't know if the pics caught it well enough for you to see, but my girls seem to have large, fluid filled lumps -- on one hen it seems to be centered, but the other 2 seem to be more to one side.

There doesn't seem to be any pain associated with the lumps and the girls don't show signs of being sick.

Anyone have any ideas?

You seem to be feeding them very well. Their crops are full. It's where the food goes before being processed.... We all went thru that when we first got chickens. Merry X mas

They have full crops! They look normal, but I have had a hen become very distended after she had been mauled by a dog many years ago. I had to have her euthanized several months later.

Your hens will normally fill up pretty big before roosting for the night.

I remember the first time I had that happen - I thought the poor thing had cancer or something. Nothing to worry about as long as they're acting okay and it goes down in the morning.

Crops can become impacted, though.

That is their foodstore.

lol....too late at night for me, it is either the crop or something similar. But this is where they break down the food for digestion I think.

Clearly I am not technical tonight, I do apologise my brain takes a holiday about an hour after I take my painkillers at night.

Someone else can tell you more accurately but it is nothing to worry about. So I wanted to attempt to put your mind at rest.

Jena.

Normal. They are happy with full bellys. Good job on such happy healthy looking chickens have a Merry Christmas.

Oh and you did a good job posting the pictures. It is so much easier for everyone to help when the problem is so cleary illustrated.
