I have eight hens that just started eating laying pellets I did have them on baby chick feed they are about 5 months old black australorps Rhode Island red speckled Sussex welsummers Easter Eggers the black australorps will eat the feed not the others though especially the Rhode Island red Easter egger and speckled Sussex do not touch the lane pellets at all they just packed through them what should I do about this?

I switched my first Flock over to Layer Pellets at 16 weeks by mixing it with Start and Grow Crumbles 50/50 for two weeks. I also mixed the Pellets with Scratch Grains and Scattered on dry ground as a treat and they eagerly ate the Pellets.
If you still have fussy eaters that don't like Pellets, you can buy Layer Crumbles.
In the meantime you can grind the Pellets in a Blender. A small amount at a time. Fill to the 12 ounce mark and run a few seconds till a Crumble consistency. GC

Mine did the exact same thing when I switched them over to layer feed (pellets). I switched to a crumble and everything has been fine since.

Try switching them over gradually so they'll get used to the taste. Also, try a different brand. I like to use the Purina omega-3 pellets from tractor supply or another organic feed, and they seem to like that. I also add brewers yeast, garlic powder, oregano, kelp and DE to their feed and they love the taste! Hope that helps :)

Mine refused pellets until I started buying Purina Omega Plus which are mini pellets. They refuse mini pellets from Nutrina and Dumor. Don’t know why.
I start my chicks at ten weeks on half crumble, half pellets, just wet enough to feel and look like brown sugar.
