My Hens like me now!

I thought I'd have a strained relationship with my chix since they seemed to hate me for what seemed to be so long. Now that they are laying they are so friendly I can't shake them! It's awesome how maturity has changed them...I was appalled at the term "pet" chicken until this past week! As soon as they started egg squatting it's all become so much more pleasant! They follow me and look for pets and want me close...it's heartwarming. I'm glad I don't have cold chickens any more! Joy!

Glad you're getting more from your babies! I've always liked them better as adults, too. They can be right skittish when they're young.

They are a lot different once they start laying. Mine are stuck to me like glue..........it's even hard to walk without tripping on one.

I went out to pick peaches this morning, and they're looking at me with the "you're picking those for us, right?" They ended up with one, when it fell off the tree and rolled - I wasn't fast enough to get it.

That's wonderful! Out of 7 hens, I have only 2 that are friendly. One got that way only after she started to lay, so I'm hoping the others will follow when they mature. Right now the don't let me touch them! Very skittish.
