They make that sound when they hear something strange. It's kind of like, "I head something weird. Just watch your back."
They have good hearing, so they prob hear you moving around slightly, and are interested.Really??? When the first hen I lost was dying I was sitting in the coop with her just petting her for a little while and once it quieted down they all started doing it. So weird!

It means they are hearing a noise they can't identify. I take it as their way of telling each other to hush so they can identify the source lolI know that sounds weird..... But sometimes when I go in the coop at night or after they've been up in their roosts, they make these whistling sounds like a bomb is being thrown. What the heck does it mean????
