My Hens Won't Lay In Their Egg Box.

My hens refuse to lay in their egg box, I have tried egg curtains but they want to make their nests in their coop floor. When I go to get the eggs they have poop all on them!!!

took a week or two for mine to lay in the box. i bought plastic practice golf balls at walmart. and packed down the nest so it looked kinda off like a nest. then put two of the golf balls in it. Seemed to help at least it did with mine. plus there cheap i got a six pack for just under 2 bucks.

Is your coop large enough to allow you to do a couple of floor level nest boxes? What breed(s) are your hens and how is your current nest box system set up? Have they *ever* laid in the boxes or have you even seen them *in* the boxes?

We have two egg boxes that are floor level and jutt out from the coop. I have 2 gold sex links,1 Black Manorca, 1 ISA Brown, 1 Red Star, and 1 Kaienkoppe. Our first egg was in the egg box but no others.
