this is what I came up with so far. I want it to be able to be removable in case I have to get another box. I get these coolers from my mother inlaw. I guess they have them at her work and throw them away.

what I need help with is where to mount the water heater thermostat. Im thinking on the backside of where the bulb is. What is wrong with my design? Let me know if I need to change anything

When I mount the thermo do i mount it where the flat side is facing out or just space it away from the board?

Ok just a little update. I have finished my homade bator . I guess It will work. My air temp stays at 102. on a acurite temp/hygro . So I made an egg with a plastic easter egg some hair gel and hot glue, I put in a coralife digital temp gauge in it and it reads a constant 99.3-99.7 internal temp. (im not sure if I did that right). Im not going to worry this time with all the different thermos. I also have a spot check but its way off like 105+ . I added 12 RIR eggs from a local farm from his prized breeding stock. So hopefully I'll get some babies this time. If not I guess I can start over again.

Woo Hoo a litle update. My eggsperiment is working . out of 12 eggs 6 have pipped, 1 is all the way out and another is about 1/2 way through. I guess my project works. they have been working at it since 4 am .
