My homemade chick waterer

I've never had much luck with the chick waterers because most of them even if you mount them slightly higher and they don't get turned over they just get fouled rather quickly with sand, or wood shavings or worse.

I found this sort of homemade solution has worked well for me. Basically it's a typical Rubbermaid beverage dispenser with 3/8-in holes drilled on opposite sides. I use the rent a coop chicken drinking cups specifically the ones that have the removable inner cup it makes things a lot easier to rinse out so you don't have to physically lift the homemade waterer each time.

With regard to the drilled holes I put them at slightly different heights and try to figure out which one is the best trade-off between accessibility by the chicks and staying relatively clean longer.
