My Horrible Habit

Thanks......
Ive been doing my best to stop. I notice wrinkles around my lips and my mouth just drops..

also check for oral thrush infection. Don't know if that was cause or effect for me, but it was a terribly stressful time. And I had mouth surgery to pick at too. I don't know how I finally stopped.

Really?

Seriously,
1. Loose the white bread, and white sugar (and brown sugar for that matter), No potatoes, no milk, no steak, no bacon (Ok, a little bacon) no ham, no additives or preservatives.
2. Don't eat anything that came out of a box. (Hand the box to an average 10yr old. If they can read the ingredients list-go ahead and eat it. If not, throw it away!)
Above all....
*****NO SODAS!!!!!****

3. Eat lots of raw or steamed veggies of any kind, fruits, nuts (almonds) unsalted, and as much salad with spinnach leaves as you can eat.
4. Eat 1 to 1.5 cups of beans per day, pinto, kidney, white, lima, lintle etc...

5. Take a good quality multivitamin at breakfast while you're eating a high fiber, multigrain WHOLE GRAIN breakfast with melons, fruit and DanActive or Activia or other probiotic yogurt (No added flavors!).
6. Then take another multi vitamin at lunch WITH YOUR SALAD.
7. Exercise three times /week. You can start off with an hour walk, then work up to more vigorous exercise and in three to four weeks you'll feel better, stop chewing on yourself, and probably loose a pound or two!

could be caused by an anxiety disorder. I used to bite my nails, then one summer was so busy at my aunts house i just stopped. Now I clench my teeth, i have to chew gum or wear a guard when im driving a long distance. You may want to talk to your dr about a possible medication.

You want me to become a vegetarian?!?

Im sorry but I need my meat. I do not have enough Iron as it is. Taking out all my meat will just make that worse.

I used to chew ice like a crazy woman, I was obsessed with it. Until I found out it was a symptom of anemia and sure enough I was seriously anemic.

I know I have a problem with anemia but I HATE taking the pills..
They make me sick

I have also chewed the inside of my mouth since I was small. I don't do it as often now, thank goodness. I have also crunched ice. My dentist told me it can cause mouth cancer.

Hey fellow face chewers!!
I thought I was the only one!

I just wanted to put this out there - I have Sensory Integration Disorder (which is common but often undiagnosed in people with ADHD),
and I usually feel the need to "have something" in my mouth to chew or suck on. My mouth is quite sensitive. More sensitive that the average persons. When at the dentist, and they use room temperature water to rinse my mouth, it is quite painful. From room temp. water! The simple act of brushing my teeth can be overstimulating and painfull.

I most often feel the need to chew when stressed out. Last summer my DH and I rented a U-Haul trailer and took it to Florida with us. The stress of driving that thing all the way down to Fla. was intense (at least for me-!!!what's that behind us!!!-oh yeha...trailer...). Every time we stopped I needed to re-fuel on Jolly Ranchers. It is just sooooo relaxing to let one get a bit soft...and them mercelesely clamp down on it and mash it thin.

Just thinking about it makes me grit my teeth and want to chew...

I have the exact same problem. I also do the same thing to my lips and bite my nails. I've been trying to stop too, but so far no luck.
