My ducks are molting so bad, it looks like someone busted a feather bed in the duck pen!! The other morning I noticed Huey looked dirty, I couldn't wait for him to get in the pool, and wash the mud Off! It wasn't mud, its his new feathers:D silly me!

They weren't to happy here, they thought they were getting treats!

Planning there revenge!
They will be 12 wks Sunday, I am pretty sure Huey is a drake, the other 2 are loud quackers. Shouldn't Huey be getting his drake feather soon?

I think they might be all drakes...

They are welsh harlequins, right? The reason I am saying this is because they have dark feathers coming in at their bills.... Wifezilla or Cetawin can probably help out.. they have experience with WHs

OH NO DUCKFANATIC, PLEASE DON'T SAY THAT!! i HAVE THE 2 THAT QUACK VERY LOUD! i AM COUNTING ON THEM BEING MY GIRLS, IF i HAVE 3 DRAKES, i WILL JUST HAVE TO GET ME SOME GIRLS. And they won't like each other B/C they didn't grow up together!! What am I going to do??

I'm sorry to say- every one looks like a drake. The hens should not have the dark head nor the green bill. You're sure what you are hearing is definitely a quack? A lot of my bantam ducks it is hard to tell the difference, but my female WH's have had a very distinct quack.

On the molting issue, mine are doing the same thing! They started molting around the time they were just finishing getting their first feathers, probably because mine were hatched very late in the season and we have already had some cold weather. Normally, there is at least *some* time in juvenile plumage.

The dark heads usually mean drake. Give them another couple of weeks. As for not liking new ducks...mine fussed at each other for a couple of days and now they act like bestest buds.

Just came in from checking on the little buggers! As always I got greeted with some big quacks and some little raspy noise from the other one. But this is my first time raising ducks, I'm sure you guys know more about it then I do. I do know, I am loving every minute with the little buggers! If I would have known ducks was this much fun, I would have had some a long time ago! Thanks for the input guys.
