My hubby got laid off - need some advice....

Where do you find the ingredients? I'm fed up with the price of laundry soap. What used to be $4-5 is now about $14, and the jug is a couple of ounces smaller even. Who do they think they're kidding?

I'm glad some of you are staying so positive. It's very bad for some people out there. I met a woman yesterday who was laid off in December, and she's just shy of being able to collect SS. On top of that her mother died around the same time. The poor woman is down to her last dime and living in NYC no less. You can sense how desperate she is. Her retirement vanished like everyone elses did. I think we're going to start hearing about some terrible things and seeing a big influx of homeless senior citizens because of this. It's terrible.

I completely agree with you, Ellie, in your fears. I find my ingredients at local stores. These small local stores will carry any thing you ask for. Try asking them. When you are in the store next time look in the detergent aisle. See if you can find it there? You can make either the liquid or the dry version of this. Lots of stores are carrying these items now that they have been on t.v. on that show about..18 Kids and counting. I just made myself a gal of it and only used one box of Arm & Hammer, one box of Mule team and one box of off brand dry bleach with two small bars of Ivory soap. I ground the soap up in my food processer so it is fine like the powders. This all cost under ten dollars and I have enough detergent for six months or so.
