i hear about people having too low of humididty, but mines too high! i am only on day four and i am holding a steady humidity %age of 50. i had a tupperware in there to hold my water because i have my eggs in a carton and am tilting my bator, so the resovoirs will leak. anywho, i downsized to a teeny tupperware about two inches diamter and thats only got about 1/4 cup of water in it. but still! high humidity! i took the whole stupid thing out but i dont want to have 0 humidity.
this bator is going to kill me slowly inside.

50% isn't all that high. Try to drop it down to like 45ish until lockdown.

mine stays around 45%-50% and i've heard of people leaving it like that... i guess it depends where you're at...?

hmm weird. all i have read is that 50 is too high and that it can cause moisture to build up in the eggs causing your chicks to drown when they try to hatch. i heard 35-45 was good.

its an lg by the way. i know, i know...

Yup, like easttxchick says - take the plugs out. In fact I do not run my bator with any of the plugs in, start to finish. I am not even sure I know where the plugs are

Have you calibrated your hygrometer?

I agree,. mine gets up to 50% now and then and I just let it taper off,. but I use wet sponges,. usually 2 or three,. too high?,.. I take one out,. too low,. put one in,. it has worked out great for us and gives me more instant control.

Take out both of the red vent plugs=that'll lower it down for you.
Just FYI-despite all of it's problems, I've hatched out a LOT of chicks in an LG.
