My humidity is TOO HIGH. seriously.

My humidity is running 55%. The only way I can get it down to the 40's is to let most of the water out. I've read that some people don't use water until lockdown. What would the highest % that would be safe?

I just opened vents. Glad you guys r talking about this. Thanks

I keep mine at 50% until Day 18, then go up to 65-75%. As you may remember, Im in Reno too. My first hatch was good so Im sticking to those numbers! Good Luck-Whatcha Hatchin?

I am doing a silkie/ showgirl batch. haha, i couldnt find a partridge showgirl and a buff showgirl pullet, so i just went and bought myself 30 assorted eggs and an incubator, hahaha. Its my first time ever incubating, so i really am hoping that i get the two chicks i want AND that they turn out to be girls. with my luck ill have one egg out of the thirty actually hatch and it will be a male silkie. sheesh

I opened the vent so i'm down to 50*. I trying to raise my temp. from 100 to 101. Maybe now i will be able to. I haven't been able to get it between 100 and 103. so i've been at 100.2. I just can't seem to get it adjusted where i need it.

I incubate at 99.5-101 seems a tad high. Just my opinion, though, some people may incubate at a higher temp.

are you still air?

i know i would rather have my temps one degree low than one degree high. but im a first timer

All 4 of my first hatch made it out just fine. I have Cochins.I have 2 home made incubators. I am in lockdown on the first one, and also on day 4 in my second one. I had a temp spike of 107 the other day, so fingers crossed they made it. I guess Ill find out when i candle ina few days.
