My husand did NOT want chickens

My husband grew up living and working on a huge battery chicken egg production "farm". 52,000 chickens every X months. He really really did not want chickens.

I finally wore him down and we now have 4 Buff Orps. He built them a beautiful chicken palace. Today he was home from work, and I was at work. All day he kept texting me.

"Your chickens are running wild!" (He had them out free ranging.)

"Just have to act like a chicken and the will come running!"

"They are all running after a moth!"

LOL Silly boy.

However I'm glad he's seen that chickens are such great pets as well as utilitarian animals. Housing chickens in battery cages you lose a special demension of chickens.

And Buff Orps are a good and friendly breed too.

Yes it is amazing how soon the spouse is converted to the dark side! My wife was the same way and now they are all HER chickens!

Actually, she's from North Carolina! Howdy, neighbor!

My DH was not very enthusiastic about chickens - yesterday, he tenderly carried a chick out to be placed under a grumpy broody and then went back out after dark to make sure everyone was locked up where they were supposed to be. When asked, he still says they're YOUR chickens, though.

He is so proud to tell everyone that we have chickens now. I came home from work today and there were 6 people in the backyard and he was showing them the coop and girls.

Just last week my DH said that is my hen. Yep he loves my chickens too.
