a couple weeks ago i got an order from Ideal,I orderd pullets 10.BA and 10 BR,5 RIR sr,well it looked like alot of combs starting ,so i called them they said they sent me str. run for the BAs,they would credit or send me 10 pullets, they are my sons ffa project so I said send them, today I got 25 chicks,10 BAs and 15 peanuts, but almos all of them were EEs,there were a couple of grey one but I think they are EEs also, what are you going to do with all the extras?????we jsut have too many now around 70 chicks maybe I can give some away, good luck with yours

cute chicks i got a shipment from ideal on jan 7 15 rir and 5 peanuts grey and black not sure what they are i did lose 2 the other day i am not sure why i think their vents were plugged and i have another one acking like the 2 sick ones for i cleaned its vent and its hanging on i hope it gets better

I wish they had sent me BR peanuts -- or anything with colorful down. I ordered 25 pullets, they sent 27 chicks, 1 was DOA, and I can't tell the peanuts apart from the pullets.

Does anyone know how early a Leghorn's ear lobs start looking white? Maybe the peanuts will at least have red lobes......

Pic 1 front 3 "W" could be mottled something, one on left could be Black tailed white, white or black tailed buff Japanese but there are others that resemble it as chicks too, middle one is a Mille fluer Dutch or OEG but not D'Uccle unless it has feathered feet.
Pic 2 Other than the ones above Black and white on right is Australorp, big brown chipmunky one straight behind the Australorp is an EE and the one left of it just like it is EE, big yellow one in center is white leghorn, yellow far left could be any number of white bantams. Also one left of Australorp could be any number of bantam, maybe an OEB as they are commonly added to assortments.
Pic 3 Center one is indeed a blue Cochin bantam, and I think that gets em all.

I don't claim to be a professional chicken guesser, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once....

Have a great evening, Cindy

you're lucky you got BRs as your peanuts... I got 8 RIRs. I hear they are mean little devils. One of them is a female, though, so yay!

cute chickies!

Thanks for the info. What is OEG and OEB?

They all made it through the night. When I opened the door to the tool shed, it was completely quiet. Made for a nervous couple of seconds until they all jumped up and started running around. It is 24 degrees here right now.

It looks like I am going to have to clean some bottoms this morning. I noticed a couple with a tiny amount of Poo hanging on to them. Is this considered pasty butt?

Thanks again for all the help. I will try to get some better pics added later.

Chad

I am glad they made it safely. It was tough waiting one day for them to arrive. I can't imagine having to wait as long as you did.
