Okay, so I found this old box that we never use up in our storage and I thought I could use that as the incubator. It doesn't have a lid, so my dad is going to make one and also I'm going to be putting a glass window in the lid to see into the incubator. I have a CPU fan and a cell phone adapter to make it run and my dad is going to build in a dimmable light bulb connected to the wall of the incubator and on the outside there's gonna be a dimmer switch. Sounds good so far? i still need to get some hardware cloth for the bottom, but I also have a tray and also a sea sponge!

I think this is actually gonna work out!

Some photo's of what I have so far

Quite a big box

The setup so far

The eggs are just display eggs at the moment I still need to buy some fertile eggs don't know what breed I want to hatch yet! I have a humidity and temperature gauge / monitor from my old hermit crab tank . Will this be okay? You can see the CPU Fan and the adapter there too. Still need to wire them up, (My dad is an electrician so he knows what he's doing!)

The CPU Fan

I assume that If i have the CPU Fan there that it will aerate and get more air into the eggs, is this right, or will it be too cold for them? Or should I put it on a far wall?

The far wall

This is where the dimmable lightbulb is going to be, Should I put the CPU Fan next to that?
On the other side of the box, I'm going to have a tray of water with a sea sponge for humidity
The light, CPU Fan and the tray of water will be covered and inaccessible with hardware cloth.

A few more Questions:

Will it be hot enough? If it isn't I can most likely put another lightbulb on the other side..

Will i need something smaller?

Will I need to build a brooder as well?

Thanks a lot if you can help!

I would suggest using a hot water heater thermostat instead of the "dimmable light bulb" on a rheostat. It will keep the temp more stable. With a rheostat, if the ambient air (air in the room) goes up the temp inside the bator will go up too and you can have unwanted spikes in temp.

Otherwise...looks good...go for it!
