Hello. Since I finally placed my order for chicks last night, I guessed I should quit lurking here and just go ahead and join. I am anxiously awaiting my assortment of Purebred Bantam chicks from McMurray Hatchery. These will be my first chickens! I had ducks for an FFA project in high school which was too long ago. I also raised cockatiels and finches when my children where in school. Since my oldest are now married (I now have grandchildren too) you can see it has been a long time since I have had birds.
My interest was rekindled by doing some research for our Junior High classroom to hatch out some eggs. I decided I would keep a few of the chicks but since we may not get to this unit I decided to order my own backyard chickens. I want to have them for eggs but with a straight run will end up with some to eat also. I found your website as a link while doing all my research and kept coming back to read more information. There is so much information here it almost overwhelms me. It seems like a nice little family and I am excited to be a new member.
I am a registered nurse by trade, a Graphic Design student by night and a Mom and Grandma (MorMor to the little ones) all the time. I am married and have 5 children two teens still at home. I was inspired so much by all the new chickeness in my life that for my class that I am in right now a created 3 new pieces of art-Subject is of course chickens and eggs!
