A rooster is supposed to keep his flock safe and happy. He finds treats for them and clucks a sweet sound. He spots a predator and cracks a loud crackle. He takes on a predator and honks a loud warning. His job is to be the protector and provider. If he doesn't do those things he's merely a cute rooster. I believe it's in their DNA to do those things and when a challenge presents itself you will see how fast they step up. And size of rooster isn't the most important, it's the attitude of "I'm the King, bow to me" that I find makes a great rooster. Oh he will also mate anyone he pleases. I
We chose the one out of four roosters that had the most tail feathers and crowed the loudest. He's been a great rooster.
